Weighted by the chance each job places. If every job filled, the pipeline would be worth $594,000.

You’re $27,900 short of target. New jobs won’t place in time, so focus on moving the jobs you have.

How the forecast is worked out.

For each stage, the expected billings are the number of jobs × the average fee × the chance a job at that stage places.

Stages whose weeks to place fit inside the period count towards this period; the rest countafter this period. Coverage is this period’s expected billings divided by the target.

If you’re short and newly briefed jobs can still place within the period, the calculator divides the gap by what a new job is expected to bill to show how many more jobs you’d need to win.

Questions recruiters ask.

What is a weighted pipeline forecast?

Instead of counting every job as if it will fill, each job is weighted by the chance that a job at its stage becomes a placement. Ten jobs at a 20% chance with a 15,000 fee forecast 30,000, not 150,000. It gives a far more realistic view of what the pipeline will bill.

Where do the stage percentages come from?

Ideally your own history: of the jobs that reached each stage in the last year, how many became placements? The defaults are a reasonable starting point for contingent permanent recruitment, but every desk converts differently, so replace them as soon as you can.

Why does weeks to place matter?

A job that’s just been briefed may well fill, but not this quarter. Jobs whose usual time to placement is longer than the period are counted after the period, so the forecast only includes billings that can realistically land in time.

What’s a healthy pipeline coverage?

Coverage is the weighted forecast for the period divided by your target. Below 100% you need to move jobs faster or win more; comfortably above it gives you room for the placements that fall through late.
